Elementals & Fey

Fey/Faery & Fairies
We often imagine faerys to be in the iconic image of our childhood stories such as the kind hearted `Fairy Godmother` or the cheeky little `Tinkerbell` from Peter Pan fame. In fact this would lead us to believe that Faerys are no more than mere flights of fancy or childish `fairytales`
This is not the case. Fey or Faery (however they are known to you) are real beings, and not at all as imagined!
The Fey consist of Seven main Tribes, within these Tribes each holds as status and position within their clan.
The Fey are the in between evolution state of a Nature Being and that of an Angel. Just as we wish to learn and evolve Spiritually they do too.
Many of the Fey are deeply involved with the nuture and care of Animals and Plants and will eventually progress to the Angelic Realm where they will become there Guardians or Angelic Healers.
During our Fey workshops which are held at regular intervals throughout the year, many students are surprised to learn of their own personal Fey Heritage. You see just as there has been much talk of Earth Angels (humans born upon Earth carrying Angelic Energy) it seems the Human Fey have been overlooked! When my students learn of there Magical Heritage almost all automatically know to which tribe and clan they belong.....something deep down knows, and realising their own personal truths can be a catalyst for them.
We all have our own Personal Fey Guide/Guardian, they can take many forms....or not even a form at all!
At our workshops we aim to teach you how to safely and respectfully contact your own Personal Fey. This is very similar to courses and workshops in which you are introduced to your own Personal Guardian Angel. There is often a great sense of Peace, Tranquility, deep Healing and total Love, it can be a very moving & emotional experience.
Please see our Faery Realm pages, or if you wish to learn more why not book a place at our next Fey Day Workshop?
As Defined by Dictionary Sources
A Fairy is sometimes also known as Fay, Fey, Fae, Faerie; collectively, wee folk, good folk, people of peace and so many other names is a form of Being best known as a Nature Being or Spirit, often described as a supernatural or preternatural. The word fairy derives from the term fae of old French folklore and romance, one famous example being Morgan le Fay. "Fae-ery" was therefore everything that appertains to the "fae", and so the land of "faes", all the "faes". Finally the word replaced its original and one could speak of "a faery or fairy", though the word fey is still used as an adjective.
It is said that Fairies resemble various beings of other mythologies, though even folklore that uses the term fairy offers many definitions. Sometimes the term describes any magical creature, including goblins or gnomes: at other times, the term only describes a specific type of more ethereal creature.
Fairies are generally described as human in appearance and having magical powers. Their origins are less clear in the folklore, being variously dead, or some form of Angel, or a species completely independent of humans or Angels. Folklorists have suggested that their actual origin lies in a conquered race living in hiding, or in religious beliefs that lost currency with the advent of Christianity.
Much of the folklore about fairies revolves about protection from their malice, by such means as cold iron(fairies don't like iron and will not go near it) or charms of rowan and herbs, or avoiding offense by shunning locations known to be theirs. In particular, folklore describes how to prevent the fairies from stealing babies and substituting changelings, and abducting older people as well. Many folktales are told of fairies, and they appear as characters in stories from medieval tales of chivalry, to Victorian fairy tales, and up to the present day in modern literature.
Although in modern culture they are often depicted as young, sometimes winged, females of small stature, they originally were depicted much differently: tall, radiant, Angelic beings or short, wizened trolls being some of the commonly mentioned. Diminutive fairies of one kind or another have been recorded for centuries, but occur alongside the human-sized beings; these have been depicted as ranging in size from very tiny up to the size of a human child. Even with these small fairies, however, their small size may be magically assumed rather than constant.
Wings, while common in Victorian and later artwork of fairies, are very rare in the folklore; even very small fairies flew with magic, sometimes flying on ragwort stems or the backs of birds.Nowadays, fairies are often depicted with ordinary insect wings or butterfly wings.
Various animals have also been described as fairies. Sometimes this is the result of shapeshifting on part of the fairy, as in the case of the selkie (seal people); others, like the kelpie and various black dogs, appear to stay more constant in form
Elementals
An elemental is a mythological being first appearing in the alchemical works of Paracelsus. Traditionally, there are four types:
gnomes, earth elementals
undines, water elementals
sylphs, air elementals
salamanders, fire elementals.
The exact term for each type varies somewhat from source to source, though these four are now the most usual. Most of these beings are found in folklore as well as alchemy; their names are often used interchangeably with similar beings from folklore. The sylph, however, is rarely encountered outside of alchemical contexts.
The basic concept of an elemental refers to the ancient idea of Elements as fundamental building blocks of nature. In the system prevailing in the Classical world, there were four elements: fire, earth, air, and water. This paradigm was highly influential in Medieval natural philosophy, and Paracelsus evidently intended to draw a range of mythological beings into this paradigm by identifying them as belonging to one of these four elemental types.
Elementals can be our most wise and beneficial Teachers. When we hold our Elemental Workshops we like to separate them into their natural Energy groups and work with each separately. We have Earth, Air, Water & Fire. Here at The Faery Realm we introduce you to our dear helpers and oh so often overlooked The Wood Elementals. Now it is true, not all Elementals are Friendly....some very much dislike Human folk, (flesh bags!) and they would love to cause alsorts of havoc and mischief given half the chance. So we teach you how to communicate safely, respectfully and in a protected state with the Elementals who act as Helpers, Teachers and Guides.
I have always enjoyed the company of The Fey & The Elemental ones, and i find many students do tend to have favourites. Which Elemental do you favour? The beautiful Mermaids, the Industrious Gnomes maybe its the inspiring Unicorn?
